Three ways to embed Flv (YouTube/ MySpace) video into PowerPoint

Flv is one the popular file formats of video but PowerPoint can not recognize it. That means we can not insert flv video to PowerPoint directly. We have to convert the Flv video to Mpeg, Avi ,WMV etc. and then insert the converted video to PowerPoint.

How to do that?

1. If your flv video is on YouTube or MySpace, Just follow these steps:

  1. Copy the YouTube or MySpace video URL (example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=J7JmsMMIR4Y

  2. Go to http://vixy.net which is FREE online conversion service. Paste the URL in the conversion box

  3. Select the output format such as "AVI,MOV,MP4" and click the button "start" . All conversion would be done automatically.

  4. When the conversion is done, download the output video to the local disk on your computer.

  5. Insert the video to your PowerPoint presentation.

PowerPoint -> Insert-> Movies and sounds->Movies from file

2. If your flv video is on your computer. Visit http://www.media-convert.com/ and follow these steps.

2.1 Browse your local disk and select the flv video to be converted.

2.2 Select the expected output format and click the button "Convert"

2.3 When the conversion is done, download the output video to your computer

2.4 Then insert the video to your PowerPoint presentation.

PowerPoint -> Insert-> Movies and sounds->Movies from file

3. Fast and batch conversion using conversion software

if you have lots of flv videos to convert, you may use a conversion tool to save time. There are several tools that can convert Flv video. You can search "Flv to Avi" in Google and you'll get some tools can do this. But they are all shareware.

I would like to have your comments on my article. I'll be happy if this is helpful to you.

My Photo slide show—which is the best

My Photo slide show—which is the best

I have made a PowerPoint photo slide show. But this PowerPoint file is too large and I can not place it on my blog. So I am thinking about converting it to some other formats: Html, MPEG or Flash. I’d like to have your comments of these three methods. Tell me which one is the best.
What I want to do?
Embed the PowerPoint slide show to my webpage and Blogs (Insert PowerPoint to blog: BlogSpot, MySpace, wordpress)

I tried using the built-in function “Save as webpage” of PowerPoint. I followed the steps: click “File”—“Save as webpage”---select an output folder--choose Html format—“Save”. At the end I got an html file. I uploaded it to my web space and got this html photo slide show. http://free.ipdz.com/gaochuhan/my-photo-album.htm

It is actually the easiest way to put my photo slide show on the web. But I was disappointed that the slide show can’t play automatically and the transitions and animations all disappeared.

Then I searched in Google and found a tool can convert the PowerPoint slide show to video. I converted my photo slide show to an mpeg video successfully and uploaded it to my web page http://free.ipdz.com/gaochuhan/my-photo-album.mpg . You can try to visit the URL and you may find unable to load the video due to the large file size, what's more, I'm not sure whether my the visitor of my blog has proper video player installed on their machine.
As a Youtube fan, I think it may help me a lot, however the video quality is awful. See it here:
http://www.youtube.com/v/EKsLcIywypE

I got a headache in finding a better method. After several hours of google searching, I finally find that Flash has some particular characters may solve my problems:
1, Support animations and transitions just like PowerPoint.
2, With small file size to be easily distribute.
3, Can be embedded to webpage and blog easily.
4,.Compatible with 95% internet browsers

Then I converted the PowerPoint photo slide show to Flash successfully with a PowerPoint to Flash tool.
You may see the result here: http://free.ipdz.com/gaochuhan/my-photo-album.swf
I think it is the best way to deliver my photo slide show. And the effect is fairly nice.

See How I do it

I would like to have your comments of this. If someone can point me to a better solution, that will be greatly appreciated.

Why and How to Convert PowerPoint Files to AVI

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.2--convert powerpoint to dvd
www.ppt-to-dvd.com
Wondershare PPT2Flash - PowerPoint to Flash tool

About AVI format:

Audio Video Interleave, known by its acronym AVI, is a multimedia container format introduced by Microsoft in November 1992 as part of its Video for Windows technology. AVI files contain both audio and video data in a standard container that allows synchronous audio-with-video playbacks. Like DVDs, AVI files support multiple streaming audio and video, although these features are seldom used

Despite its limitations and the availability of more modern container formats (see Matroska, Ogg and MP4), AVI remains popular among file-sharing communities. This is probably due to its high compatibility with existing video editor, like VirtualDub and player like Windows Media Player

Why to Convert PowerPoint Files to AVI

There are lots of advantages of converting PowerPoint to AVI.

1. Converting PowerPoint files to AVI can make file-sharing and distribution of PowerPoint presentations easier. An AVI video can be played on Windows Media Player, so we can view the PowerPoint presentation without the need of installation of PowerPoint or PowerPoint Viewer.

2. After converting PowerPoint to AVI, it is easier to burn it to DVD using DVD burners. DVD burners don't support burning PowerPoint to DVD, but if we convert the PowerPoint to AVI, we can burn the AVI file to DVD easily.

3. By converting PowerPoint to AVI, we can get high quality video just like PowerPoint Slideshows.

How to Convert PowerPoint Files to AVI

There are mainly two methods to convert PowerPoint to AVI.

1, Use a screen capture tool to record your slideshow as it plays on your screen

2, Use a Professional PowerPoint to video conversion tool to convert PowerPoint to AVI

..:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Lot's of screen capture tools can be found in the software market. You can easily find one by searching Google for Screen capture tool. But this kind of tools always generate a huge file with low quality for PowerPoint file always has lots of animations and transitions that most screen capture tools can not obtain. If you don't care the quality and your PowerPoint file is not complex, this may be the best choice to convert PowerPoint to AVI.

For users who have video clips or Flash embedded in the PowerPoint files, it is highly recommend that he/she use a professional PowerPoint to AVI conversion tool. Just think about what functions should a professional PowerPoint to AVI conversion tool should have. We may pay more concerns on below aspects:

1. We'd like to convert the PowerPoint file to AVI and retail the video clips and flash.

2. We want to insert music or record narration to the PowerPoint movies

3. We'd like to be able to edit the final video movies for more engaging results.

4. We may want to convert the PowerPoint file to other video formats now and then. So the professional PowerPoint to AVI tool should support other popular video formats such as AVI, MPEG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MP4) WMV, 3GP, FLV and etc.

5. It should be compatible with Office 2007 and Windows Vista. That means this

Tool can be used on more platforms.

Finally, we can't go without excellent customer service. We need reliable customer service to avoid troubles.

Which tool in the market meets the above requirements?

Actually, None!

Professional PowerPoint to AVI tool:

We are developing a tool which covers above functions. Its name is Wondershare PPT TO VIDEO Converter. It will be released before June tenth.

Reduce the size of your PowerPoint files

Wondershare PPT2Flash - PowerPoint to Flash tool

Convert PowerPoint to Flash can reduce 90% of the PowerPoint file!!Use the tool PPT2FLASH http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/powerpoint-to-flash.php?sid=4

Other methodsReduce the size of your PowerPoint filesApplies to: Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003
By Steve Rindsberg, Microsoft MVP and co-creator of PPTools
Applies to Microsoft Office PowerPoint® 2003Microsoft PowerPoint® 2000 and 2002
So you and PowerPoint have created the Presentation That Ate Cincinnati. Your file size has gone spiraling out of control and you can't figure out why.
I live in Cincinnati. I kinda like it here, so I want to help.
There are quite a few reasons why your files might get huge. We're going to look at why it happens, how you can fix it, and what you can do to prevent it from happening again.
Turn off fast saves
First off, you'll need to do a little setup in PowerPoint. On the Tools menu, click Options, click the Save tab, and then clear the Allow fast saves check box. Doing this forces PowerPoint to remove excess data from your presentation file each time you save.
After you've turned off fast saves, save your presentation again under a new name. On the File menu, click Save As, type a name for the new version of your presentation in the File namebox, and then click OK.
In fact, it's a good idea to save another copy of your presentation before continuing. Some of the following steps make irreversible changes to your presentation. You'll want a backup copy of your slide show.
Watch out for oversize image files
In most cases, images don't need to be much larger than 1024 × 768 pixels (see What resolution should I make my images for PowerPoint slide shows? to learn why). If your images are larger than this, your PowerPoint files are probably bigger than they need to be.
PowerPoint 2002 and later can compress images and remove unneeded data:
Right-click the picture, and then click Format Picture on the shortcut menu. In the Format dialog box, click the Picture tab, and then click Compress. Under Apply to, do one of the following: To compress just the current picture, click Selected pictures.
To compress all the pictures in your presentation, click All pictures in document.
Under Change resolution, do one of the following:If your presentation will be used for a screen show, click Web/Screen.
If you plan to distribute your presentation as printed pages, click Print.
Under Options, select the Compress pictures check box and the Delete cropped areas of pictures check box. Click OK. If prompted, click Apply in the Compress Pictures dialog box.PowerPoint compresses the picture or pictures for you automatically. If you use PowerPoint 2000 or earlier, do the following for each image that you want to compress:
Click the picture to select it. On the Edit menu, click Copy. Again on the Edit menu, click Paste Special. Do one of the following:For most images, such as photos and scans, click JPG.
For images with large areas of flat color, or that contain important text or fine details, click PNG.
Note JPG files are usually smaller, but JPG's "lossy" compression can blur thin lines and other fine detail, or leave "artifacts" (stray odd-colored pixels) around text.
Delete the original image.
Watch for embedded objects, pasted or dragged graphics
If possible, bring images into PowerPoint by doing the following: On the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
When you copy and paste (or drag) an image or a graphic that includes an image from another program into PowerPoint, PowerPoint may create an embedded OLE object. The OLE object includes a Windows® Metafile (WMF) picture of the image. PowerPoint normally compresses images very efficiently, but it can't compress images in WMFs, so copying and pasting or dragging images into your files can make your files quite large.
Embedded objects are easy to shrink. After you no longer need to edit the image (by double-clicking it), do the following: Right-click the image, point to Grouping on the shortcut menu, and then click Ungroup. Next, immediately right-click the image again, point to Grouping on the shortcut menu, and then click Regroup. Ungrouping throws away the OLE data and leaves just the picture — in a form that PowerPoint can now compress.
Incidentally, it's okay to copy and paste images from one slide to another within PowerPoint. PowerPoint stores only one copy of the image no matter how many times you use it, so reusing an image can actually help keep your file sizes down.
Check the master slides, too!
When you check your presentation for oversize images and embedded OLE objects, don't forget to check the slide, title, notes, and handout masters as well as the individual slides.
Also check each notes page in Notes Page view (graphics on the notes pages don't appear in the Notes pane in Normal view in PowerPoint 2000 and later).
Don't save as PowerPoint 95–compatible PPT files
If you save to any format that includes "PowerPoint 95" in the name, PowerPoint files that include images will get very large. That's because PowerPoint 97 and later compress images, but PowerPoint 95 doesn't. Later versions of PowerPoint have to uncompress images to make them compatible with PowerPoint 95.
Because all versions from PowerPoint 97 and later use the same file format, there's really no need to save to another version unless you specifically need to share your presentation with someone who only has PowerPoint 95. Even then, you may be better off sending them a copy of the new PowerPoint 2003 Viewer along with your PowerPoint presentation file in normal format. The overall file size—including the presentation file and viewer—may be as small or smaller, and they'll be able to see your presentation just as you intended it, rather than in a PowerPoint 95 version with all your neat animations and transitions missing.
Download PowerPoint 97 Viewer for PowerPoint 97, 2000, and 2002
Download the Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2003 Viewer
Beware the mysterious, unseen element
On the slide or master where you suspect there's something that's making the file size grow:
To select everything on the slide, click Select All on the Edit menu or press CTRL+A. Cancel the selection for elements that you know you want to leave unchanged by holding down SHIFT while clicking each element. Press DELETE to remove all selected elements, whether they are visible or not. Another approach:
To zoom out so that you can see the entire slide and the area surrounding it, on the Standard toolbar, click the arrow in the Zoom box, and then click 25% in the list. Press TAB repeatedly to select each element on the slide or master in order. If something off the slide or something that you can't identify becomes selected, delete it, and then save the presentation.
Embed only the fonts you need
When you embed a font in your presentation, the presentation may grow by as much as the size of the font file. Before you decide to embed, check the size of the font file. Some of the new Unicode fonts are enormous!
Note More recent versions of PowerPoint enable you to embed only the specific characters used in the presentation. This can cut down dramatically on the amount of font data that needs to be embedded.

Review those Review features
PowerPoint 2002 introduced a new review feature: on the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient (for Review). When you choose this option, the PowerPoint file retains all the original information AND any changes or new information that the recipients add. The file grows every time that it's changed in any way, even if the change is deleting material or whole slides.
Whoever originally sends the presentation in this way becomes the Sender; only the Sender can accept or reject changes that have been made to the file. After the Sender does this and then saves the presentation, the file goes back to a reasonable size.
If you're the Sender, here's how you can review and merge changes:
Open the presentation. Click Yes when you are asked if you want to merge changes. Apply the changes that you want to retain. Click End Review on the Reviewing toolbar. At this point, PowerPoint deletes the excess review information its been saving.
Save the presentation.
Be sure Outlook hasn't activated Review feature
Outlook might automatically turn on the review feature even when you send the presentation by using other e-mail options. To prevent Outlook from automatically activating this feature:
Open Outlook. On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Preferences tab, and then click E-mail Options. Click Advanced E-mail Options. Under When sending a message, clear the Add properties to attachments to enable Reply with Changes check box, and then click OK.
Summary
PowerPoint does a good job of jamming 20 pounds of content into a 5-pound bag, but there are limits to its magical powers. By using the suggestions above, you can help it squeeeeezzzze in that last pound or two and still keep your PowerPoint files lean and meaningful.

A Guide to choose the correct PPT To Flash software

A Guide to choose the correct PPT To Flash
conversion software: 3Ps

There are many reasons for us to use PowerPoint and as many reasons as that for us to use Flash movies. PowerPoint is an easy-to-use application to create powerful presentation. Flash is a web tool which has interactive vector animation and small file size. However, it does ask for some technical skills to create Flash. The best solution is to create PowerPoint presentation and then converter the presentation to Flash. That is the reason we need a PPT To Flash conversion application. But it is difficult to choose correct software to need our specific needs due to many factors including software and hardware.

Today, we focus only on the software. There are a lot of conversion applications by different developers. Before we make a decision it is essential to find out the difference between them. 3Ps-price, performance and post-sale support are the three key factors for us to consider. Then I will give an example to show how does these Ps work in making a wise purchase.

1. Price
Price is important but not everything. The seemingly high price sometime does not mean a waste of money while the lower price may not be a barging. Let’s think about the concept –investment & returns. In this case, we should take cost/performance in consideration. In addition, we have to think about your budget. It casts great impact on our purchase decision. Therefore, the wise practice is to find balance between our budget, price and performance.

2.Performance
Performance is the key. But it does not mean that higher performance level is better because in we have to pay more for more features. We only pay for those features we needs. That is the point.
However, a PPT To Flash conversion software should have “must” features. They are the basic for us to create better presentation out of the PowerPoint source. We can look at the feature list of the software and see if it contain the features we need.

3. Post-sale support
Most of us are ordinary customers without sophisticated programming knowledge or technical skills. When we have problems we need help. Therefore, excellent technical support is necessary.
Besides, we need upgrade.

This is the case study of applying 3Ps.

A DVD on the other hand can be played on a TV set using any DVD player or computer, and distributed to third-parties without worries about making the delivery technology work.
Microsoft PowerPoint does not allow you to write a PowerPoint presentation file to a DVD.
To convert a PowerPoint presentation file to a DVD, you need to first create a video file using a third party component and then write a DVD using DVD burning software.
There are many third-party products available on the market, which can be used to capture your slide shows and convert them to video files.
Some of the more interesting ones include Office FX, CamTasia, HyperCam, ScreenCam, and http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

How to convert PowerPoint to flash Using Free Tools

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.1--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

It would be exciting if you could convert a PowerPoint presentation to flash in a completely free way. With a lot of net searching and tutorial reading, I was able to do it with some Open Source Tools. You can read this step-by-step tutorial to learn the details.
Step 1 I launch Open Office in headless mode with a Mac. Then I open an Xterm and do the following
$ cd /Applications/OpenOffice.org 2.0.app/Contents/MacOS/program/$ ./soffice -headless -accept="socket,port=8100;urp;"
Step 2 Download JOOConverter from http://jooreports.sourceforge.net/?q=jooconverterJOOConverter is an Open Source Java/OpenOffice Document converter to perform conversions between different office document formats.
I use a Java Library JOOConverter to convert my PowerPoint to flash by running
$ java -jar jooconverter.jar powerpoint.ppt flash.swf
The converted flash does not look pretty good with some strange artifacts in it. But it does play with a flash player although no other SWF tool is able to handle or even to read this flash file by Open Office. So I decided to find a tool to tidy up the flash file.
Step 3 Download Transform SWF from http://sourceforge.net/projects/transform-swfThe Transform SWF framework is the tool to parse and encode Flash (.swf) files.
I finally managed to find Transform SWF to rewrite the flash file. I Load it into Transform’s internal swf model and then write it out again. With some nasty hacking of the Transform source, I was able to swallow exceptions caused by the out-of-bounds pointers in the swf file generated by swallow exceptions. And once again, it worked.
I think it would be troublesome to convert a PowerPoint to flash in this way if you do not have some programming experience. For the practical things, you may try some commercial converters in the market like Wondershare PPT2Flash Standard and PPT2Flash Professional

I Use DVD to play my PowerPoint presentation !

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.1--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

We all have seen those meetings on television. Some of us have even participate one or two of these types of meetings from time to time. This kind of meeting always have someone walks around the room giving a special slide presentation, and we watch that presentation on a screen in front of us. Many of these presentations are made by the famous program called Microsoft PowerPoint. Robert is one of those presenters, he works in a famous school in his city, and he uses PowerPoint for those presentations.
Robert always uses his laptop and a digital projector to show the PowerPoint presentations. But which embarrasses him a lot is that when he goes other organizations or institutions for lecture. He often finds that there is no digital projector for him to show his PowerPoint presentations.
Robert asked his friends for help, then he found that he can use a television to show his PowerPoint presentation for TV is so common use. How can he play a PowerPoint presentation on TV? “I use a tool called PPT2DVD to turn my PowerPoint presentation to a DVD, then I can play it on TV.” Robert says. “I make a DVD menu use PPT2DVD for my PowerPoint presentations and when I control it with the DVD remote , I can choose from the menu which presentation I should play. This allows for the “list view” “thumbnail view” “auto play” and “manual play” “page up” “page down” functions. This is important for changing slides when making presentations.
So now Robert has free run of the lecture room while he’s doing his presentations. And he says : “ I can burn my PowerPoint presentations to DVD and only take a DVD disk in my briefcase to go for the lecture. I also send my Presentations to my friends or supporters in a DVD disk to them to study .
No more awkward cases, Robert is free to be fascinating while he conducts his meetings.
And finally Robert told us, “This application should be a hit with presenters.” We agree.

Organizing content

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.1--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

Organizing content
First Step in Creating a Presentation. I firmly believe in starting your presentation with an outline. An outline helps you focus first on your content and how it's organized. After all, isn't what you're saying more important than how you say it?
To create an outline in Microsoft Word, using Heading 1 style for slide titles, Heading 2 style for first-level bulleted text, etc. Then choose File Send To and choose Microsoft PowerPoint. Or instead, return to PowerPoint, choose File Open, choose All Outlines from the Files of Type drop-down list in the dialog box, find your outline document and double-click it.
To create the outline in PowerPoint, click the outline pane (before PP 2000, click the Outline button first) and type the title of the first slide. Press Enter. Click Demote on the Outlining toolbar to type bulleted text on the same slide. See my book, How to Do Everything with PowerPoint 2003, for exact steps and details.

Using a Summary Slide for a Question & Answer Session

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.1--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

A summary slide creates a slide listing the slide names of selected slides. Besides using a summary slide for summaries, you can use it to create agenda slides.
A nice use for the summary slide is for a question & answer session. Here's how:
Select all the slides you want to include. You might want to leave out the first slide, for example, because presumably no one will ask you any questions about it.
Click Summary Slide on the Outlining toolbar.
PowerPoint places the summary slide before the selected slides. Go into slide sorter view and move the slide to the end of your PowerPoint presentation.
Hyperlink each slide title back to its slide. (Select the text and choose Insert > Hyperlink.)
Be sure to add hyperlinks on each of the slides back to the summary slide. If you attach the hyperlink to an image or AutoShape, it will be invisible.

And if you think your slide show is very funny or unique, you may want to upload it to YouTube or MySpace. But YouTube and MySpace only accept 'FLV' format .How can we turn the ppt album to FLV movie? Review of PowerPoint 2007

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.10--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

PowerPoint
The most widely used presentation software anywhere

Review of PowerPoint 2007
I've been working hard on updating my PowerPoint, which will be called How to Do Everything with Microsoft® Office PowerPoint® 2007. It's due out in January. As I've gone through the chapters, I've delved into every nook and cranny of the new program, and here is my review. (Note: Features could change or be eliminated before the final version is shipped, but don't expect any major changes.)
Ribbon
Much has been made of the ribbon. Essentially, it's just one big toolbar with tabs. The old toolbars and menus are gone, but the old dialog boxes and taskpanes are mostly the same. Sometimes the ribbon is annoying, because you have to display the appropriate tab before you can get to the command you want. Other times, it's more efficient. It's not customizable, but there is a Quick Access toolbar at the top of the application window that you can customize.
Themes
A major new feature is themes. They are like templates, but they can't have slides in them. They are meant to contain design information only. You can create your own themes, save them, and reuse them, just like templates. Themes are made up of sets of theme colors (like the old color schemes), theme fonts (just two, one for titles and one for slide text), and theme effects, which are various treatments of shapes. (AutoShapes are now called just shapes.) You can quickly change the entire look of a presentation by changing the theme colors and theme effects. Another benefit is that Word and Excel can use them, too, but you need to understand them well to make this work effectively.
Background styles
Background styles are very simple backgrounds -- solids or simple gradients. Their advantage is that they look sleek and they know if they're light or dark. So, if you have a light background with dark text, you can switch to a dark background style and your text automatically becomes light -- no contrast problems!
Custom layouts
You can finally create your own layouts and save them in your templates and themes. Templates and themes now include all the layouts. To create your own layout, you insert one of 8 placeholder components, then resize and plaace them as you want. Slide masters have 12 layouts, by default, including section slides and comparison slides. I'm very pleased, as this was an improvement that I requested.

SmartArt graphics
SmartArt graphics are an evolution of the old diagrams, which were pretty useless. They're much better now. First of all, there are many more of them. Also, they work better; for example, you can convert bulleted text into a diagram. The styles look better, too.
Quick Styles
Everything has Quick Styles. These are preset formatting for shapes, backgrounds, charts, tables, pictures, SmartArt diagrams, and more. You get at these styles through drop-down galleries. What's cool about the galleries is the (almost all of the time), you can see the result on your slide by just hovering the cursor over a choice. So, no clicking and undoing over and over.
Would you like to see this in action? I'm still new at Camtasia, which is a program that takes videos of the screen. For some reason, it didn't pick up the Picture Styles. On my screen, the styles were expanded so I could choose them. But you see the results, as I try style after style. Do you like the one I finally chose? Watch the movie. (Note: This is a 9 MB file.)
New text styles
Text has more options, similar to Word. So you can do (all caps, small caps, strikethrough, double underline, and more.
New effects
Both shapes and text have new effects, specifically glow, soft edges, reflections, and bevels.
WordArt for any text
Speaking of text, you can apply WordArt-type effects to any text.
Charts integrated with Excel (if you have it)
Charts are done in Excel, not the old datasheet, if you have it. (Otherwise, you're back to the datasheet.) This gives you more capabilities, but also makes it easier to transfer data from Excel. They also have more formatting options.
Better gradients
Gradients are much improved; you can now have up to 10 colors! And specify where each color switches to another color. Hallelujah! (This was one that I asked for.) This one has 6 "stops."

Visibility and Selection taskpane
This new taskpane lets you set the visibility and display order (front to back) of objects, but also lets you rename them. This is very helpful for animating many objects on a slide.
Compatability & roundtripping
There are extensive features for helping people who will be collaborating with those who don't upgrade. Features can be downgraded to 2003 levels and then automatically upgraded when you open a presentation in 2007 again (roundtripping).
Zipped XML format
The file format is different, and files are generally much smaller. The file is in XML format, then zipped.
New security features: document inspector, prevent changes (mark as final),
The document inspector removes personal information from a file. You can discourage changes by marking a presentation as final (although that can be changed). You can add a digital signature.
Save as PDF
You can save a presentation in PDF format, using a separate, free download.
Wide-screen slide sizes (16:9 and 16:10)
PowerPoint includes wide-screen sizes for wide screens.
Many other smaller changes
This list isn't nearly complete. Some other nice features are:
Paragraph level rulers so you can change settings from paragraph to paragraph within a placeholder
Columns (two or more) in a placeholder, text box, or shape
Convert to Freeform: You can convert shapes to freeforms, so that you can edit their points and use Béziers on them.
You can change brightness and contrast of a background image
Publish to HTML
This feature is pretty broken, unfortunately. PowerPoint 2007 saves to the same HTML as 2003, so you don't get any of the new features. Presentations don't display properly in Firefox. Maybe Firefox will update their browser?
Removed
Yes, some features have been removed:
AutoContent Wizard: no great loss here
Macro recorder: a great loss, in my opinion. Apparently, it wasn't working very well, anyway. For example, you couldn't record setting up animation. With the new features, it was only going to be worse. The macro recorder is still in Word and Excel.
Broadcast feature: This feature for displaying a presentation to multiple people over the Web or an Intranet was difficult to use anyway.
Send for Review: Instead, you just e-mail the presentation and add comments.
Summary slides: I thought this was a good feature. Too bad.
The title master: There's a new title layout in its place, which is simpler to use.
Speaker Notes: I'll miss this one, too. It was the only simple way to add audience input during slide show view

Expanding One Slide into Two

Wondershare PPT2DVD 3.9.1--convert powerpoint to dvd
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4

PowerPoint Tips & Tutorials
If you can't make text fit properly on one slide without squeezing it in too tightly, split the text into two slides. If the text is in a text placeholder, this is easily done using the Outline toolbar. To display the OUtline toolbar, right-click any toolbar and choose Outline.
Place the cursor in the Outline tab of the Outline pane (not on the slide) at the end of the last line of text that you want on the first slide.
Press Enter.
On the Outline toolbar, click Promote until a New Slide icon appears in the Outline pane.
Type a title for the new slide.
Adjust the rest of the text as needed by clicking Demote or Promote on the Outline toolbar.
