Are you puzzled when using PowerPoint sometimes? In this article, I will list some small PowerPoint tips. Maybe they are all common, but practical ones. Hope these tips will make you convenient in your work and life.
1. How to Resize Pictures
You can size pictures in PowerPoint by clicking the picture with the mouse and dragging it to a new size. If you don’t want to "stretch" the picture (keeping the horizontal aspect ratio the same) but enlarge it, hold the Crtl key when changing the size. You can also click the corner of the picture and enlarge it and the aspect ratio will remain the same.
2. How to Use Scanned Photos in PowerPoint
In Microsoft PowerPoint, you may want to add your own scanned photos into a slide to spice up your presentation. But very large pictures can slow down you slide show when they start to load. Even if a picture takes only a few seconds to load, it can throw off your entire presentation, as well as your timing. Recommend using smaller sized photos to help your slide show run exactly how it should.
3. How to Use Graphics with Text Efficiently
While working in Microsoft PowerPoint, you may decide to use text over graphics. This can either make or break your presentation, depending on how well you select your font and color. When working with text and a full color, it can be very difficult to pick the right color and font style. However, when working with a picture that only contains a few colors, text on top of it can spice up the slide’s appearance.
4. How to Record a Narration in PowerPoint
You can record a narration into a PowerPoint slide easily. Do this:
a. Go to the Slide you wish to add a narration to.
b. From the Insert menu select Movies and Sounds.
c. Click Record Sounds.
d. When ready, click the Record button (the red circle).
e. When finished recording, click the black Stop button.
f. Click OK.
5. How to Add a Background Sound to a PowerPoint Slide
To add a background sound to a PowerPoint slide, follow this:
a. Open the Insert menu.
b. Select Movies and Sounds.
c. Click Play CD Audio Track.
When a CD is inserted, a dialog box will appear. From here, simply choose the track you want and select the options you want for it. During your presentation, simply double-click on its icon to start the music.
6. When Using AVI files with Presentations
Using an AVI file with a presentation may spice it up, but it can also ruin it. Make sure to keep your AVI file normal size. A movie playing that is viewed too big will not have anywhere near the quality that a smaller viewed movie will.
7. How to Convert Your PowerPoint to DVD
You can use Windows Movie Maker, but you may not be able to keep the animations and sounds in your presentation. Another choice is to use a professional tool to help you do this easily. Here I recommend the Wondershare PPT2DVD. With a high conversion quality, you can do it easily.

Top 10 PowerPoint presentation tips to maximize the effectiveness of your online meetings

Wondershare PPT2Flash - PowerPoint to Flash tool
Chances are either you have had to create a PowerPoint presentation yourself or you have had to observe one at one time or another. PowerPoint presentations have become one of the primary ways online meetings are conducted today. It is easy to put some slides together and then read them back to the audience verbatim. This approach however will make for a very monotonous meeting.
Days ago I have written an article “The principle of creating attractive PowerPoint”. I give some PowerPoint presentation tips such as not putting more text in the slide, telling the story by the person rather than PowerPoint presentation. Here I got 10 PowerPoint presentation tips from Lynn Marotta, the successful freelance writer and contributor to Web-Conferencing-Zone.com.
There are better PowerPoint presentation tips you can use to get your message across more effectively. The following is a list of our top ten PowerPoint presentation tips and techniques to help make all of your future meetings, whether offline or online, a big success.
1. Readability is important -- Make sure the font is large enough for everyone to see. Another tip to remember is too many words can make following along a burden for the audience. People will soon loose interest.
2. Stick to key points -- Only put the key points of the presentation on your PowerPoint slides. By following this advice, you can avoid the monotony of having your presentation follow verbatim what appears on each slide.
3. Use clear titles on each slide -- Each PowerPoint slide needs to have a clear title summarizing its purpose. Using larger, bolder font can help ensure the title stands out from the rest of the slide.
4. Use simple backgrounds -- Pay attention to the color selections you choose. Another tip is to make sure the background does not detract from the words or diagrams that appear. If you choose colors that are too dark, or patterns that are too bold, chances are the slides will be difficult to read.
5. Use graphs and diagrams -- Using visual images such as graphs and diagrams can really help to make a point. Images also help to break the presentation up a little bit and provide some visual interest.
6. Stay organized -- The PowerPoint presentation itself needs to stay organized and on topic. Make sure the slides are in the right chronological order and information flows easily and naturally.
7. Limit the number of slides -- Do not overdo the number of slides in your presentation. Keep the information presented on the PowerPoint slides themselves as short and concise as possible. You can always embellish verbally.
8. Speak clearly -- When presenting, speak clearly and try to be as enthusiastic and interesting as possible. People often think of PowerPoint presentations as dry and boring, but with a little creativity, you can be captivating.
9. Allow time for questions -- This is always a good practice to follow when conducting any meeting. PowerPoint presentations are no exception. Make sure you factor in a question and answer time into your allotted time slot.
10. Allow for future follow-up -- Depending on the nature of the PowerPoint presentation, it may be appropriate to provide your contact information (i.e., phone number, email, and/or website URL) so that meeting participants can follow-up with you should they have any further questions or wish to enlist your services.
The eleventh tip I think is, you can use some creative tool like PPT2DVD which can help you burn PowerPoint to DVD, and then you can watch your PowerPoint on TV. For some TV-conference and conference call it is very convenient.
With a little time and effort, you can really make your next PowerPoint presentation effective and memorable by following these simple PowerPoint presentation tips and techniques.

How to Play 4:3 PPT on 16:9 Screens without Distortion
http://www.ppt-to-dvd.com/download.php?sid=4
As the 16:9 HDTVs and LCD monitors become more and more popular in our life, how to play the 4:3 PPT presentations in full screen mode on these new babies without distortion is a big problem to many people. It seems impossible to make it on the face, but how about if we try to add something to fill the blank part of the screen. Please follow me, I’ll show you step by step.
Assume we have a 16:9 wide screen like the rectangular (the gray and the white) below.
The white part is the original presentation, and the gray part is the blank part of the screen. Be sure, if we display a presentation on a HDTV it won’t be showed like this, but two black (or gray) bars on the left and right sides of the screen. Here, we just consider the layout. What we should do now is to add something to replace the gray part. Until I use some PPT to flash conversion tools, I have no idea what is appropriate for the little gray.
Articulate Presentater, Wondershare PPT2Flash Professional, and Pointecast Publisher are powerful tools to convert PPT presentations to flash-based ones. Here, take PPT2Flash Professional for example to show how to use this kind of tools to solve our problem.
Firstly, after installed PPT2Flash Professional (the version I installed is 3.5.0), open the presentation in PowerPoint, we can find PPT2Flash on the menu bar, click the cascade menu, choose Player Templates, in Player we could see the player’s frame. In the full style mode, there is a panel at the left of our slide. It is exactly what we need. With this panel a 4:3 presentation becomes a 16:9 presentation (maybe not a perfect 16:9 proportion, but much better).
Then, let’s have a look at what we have on this panel, Company logo; Author Info, which includes E-mail, Bio, Name, Photo; Toolbar, including Flash Title, Attachments, Notes; Control Bar. Users can manually set which items should be displayed. After personalized the player template, and published the presentation, we get a flash presentation with 16:9 aspect ratio.
Now we can play the presentation on 16:9 wide screens by setting the aspect-ratio control to Stretch or Full.Labels: aspactratio

Add a hyperlink to a presentation

When you add a hyperlink to a presentation, you must be careful that the target of the hyperlink is available. If you are giving the presentation offsite using a laptop, all the targets need to be on the laptop as well, unless your laptop is actively connected to the Internet. An alternative is to copy Web site documents you think you will need to your laptop and hyperlink to those documents. The advantage is that you don’t have to depend on getting a good connection to the Internet at your offsite location.

Often times, slides will not show up in Word 95 when using PowerPoint's Write-Up. The notes will come up alright, but the slides will appear as an empty box with resize handles. You can take care of this problem by simply turning off the picture placeholders in Word. This is done by simply:
Opening the Tools menu.
Selecting Options.
Then click the View tab, and deselect the check box labeled Picture Placeholders.
The slides should come up normally now.
